I am like most captains right now, we have canceled all charters for the safety of ourselves and our clients. Don’t know how long this will last (corvid19) but it is a scary time in the lives of the American people. Like everyone else, I am still stunned. The fishing industry was already in limbo with all the closings due to the red tide a couple of years back. I have seen fish come and go over the last 35 years of fishing Tampa Bay.
15 years as a professional guide and sport fisherman. The snook has made a great comeback but the redfish dropped off about 5 years ago and are slowly coming back. I believe in certain areas due to water purity. (just my opinion). Others may be due to overfishing. With the numbers of guides and more coming every year its tough to pick one. I have 15 years guiding some more most less. With that said there are captains who are good fishermen in all areas and all types. But if you want to target a certain fish there are those who are better at certain fish.
I am a snook, trout, redfish guy. Capt Randy Knowles on the other handis a Goliath grouper expert. Captain Rob Gorda is a Tarpon guru and all-around fisherman. Whoever you choose make sure they are licensed by the USCG and insured. Ask for credentials. Fishing is great this time of year so soon as all this is over get out and catch a few. See me at www.foreverhookedcharters.combe safe and be blessed, GOD BLESS AMERICA
